Schroth Method for Scoliosis

The Schroth Method is a research-backed, proven treatment to help children, teens, and adults with scoliosis. Schroth Therapy is a hands-on, patient-driven method that aims to improve scoliosis outcomes using the patient’s own muscles and body. It is recommended by the International Society on Scoliosis Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Treatment. Only certified Schroth therapists are able to provide this high-quality, specific method and at Chicago Pediatric Therapy & Wellness Center we have a growing Schroth Therapy Team who specializes in helping kids with Scoliosis.

🛠️ Typical Treatment Course

Each child is unique, and our therapists will individualize your child’s treatment course to best fit their needs. A typical treatment course with an ISST Schroth Certified physical therapist will include:

  • A very thorough initial evaluation
  • Hands-on training for you and your child for exercises to complete at home
  • PT sessions 1-2 times weekly for 6-10 weeks with the option to extend the course as needed.
  • The expectation to continue exercises at home for best results.
  • After pausing weekly therapy, regular check ins with PT to assess progress and update home program.
Scoliosis is a lifelong condition. Growing children, preteens, and teens are at the highest risk for progression (worsening) of the curve. Your ISST Schroth certified physical therapist will see your child regularly every step of the way while they are growing. The Schroth Method can continue to help a scoliosis patient through adulthood as well!
