Natalie Berra is a godsend! My son needed physical therapy from a very early age and we saw Natalie for several months. She was always very professional, welcoming and clearly knows her stuff & takes pride in doing a good job. We are very happy with my son’s progress, and the sessions did not feel like a chore every week because Natalie is so easy to talk to. The whole practice seems well run and it makes such a difference when front desk people are actually pleasant too (Ms Cory was wonderful).

We have been working with Natalie K. now for about 7 months. She is the absolute best PT I could have asked for!!! I was so worried when my son wasn’t crawling yet at 10 months old and she had him moving in no time! Same thing with his walking. He also absolutely adores her. She is so good with babies and toddlers! I look forward to going to our weekly session because I know how productive it will be every time and I walk out of our sessions in such a good mood. I can’t recommend a center or therapist more!!

My son has been seeing Natalie Kahn for about a year, we just absolutely love her. She is patient, kind, smart and dedicated to her skill and these kids. I can not recommend her enough to whomever will listen! My son adores her and has made amazing progress with his issues…so much so that we have recently gotten the clear to no longer need PT. Although we will miss seeing her every week, it’s because of her hard work and care that my son is thriving, and that I am so grateful for. It takes a village and I am so glad we have/had the pleasure of having Natalie in ours.

Our daughter loves going to Speech and OT here. Love the staff, specifically Alyse for OT and Sarah for speech therapy. They're so patient with our kiddo all the while keeping her on task and we love the growth we've seen already after just a few months. Veronica also has helped us navigate insurance and has been really helpful.

CPTWC has been an absolute haven for both my boys. The front office is always so welcoming & helpful with my 100 questions, especially Ms. Cory!

Our 4mo old baby required Physical Therapy due to Torticollis, and Ms. Amanda has been such a joy to work with. My son fell in love from day one, and she was able to help him achieve his goals, throughout his Doc Band journey.

Our 2.5yr old toddler was referred here by his pediatrician for Occupational Therapy, and Ms. Kirsten has been the most positive influence! He absolutely adores her, and has made such incredible progress. He has since started seeing Ms. Erin for Speech Therapy, which has also been such a positive and fun experience for him! Now we begin his ABA journey with Ms. Natalia and we already know he is in SUCH good hands with his whole caring team.

We are SO grateful to have found this wellness center, and would be lost without everyone there. Highly recommend for all the children in your life!

What Is ABA Therapy?

What Is ABA Therapy?

ABA therapy stands for Applied Behavior Analysis — a research-backed, compassionate teaching method that helps children strengthen the skills they use every day. Through personalized one-on-one sessions or small group learning, our ABA therapy empowers children to grow with confidence and joy. ABA therapy also helps your child develop:

Communication that supports bonding: Build vocabulary and body language so your child can express their needs.

Friendships through play: Practice turn-taking, pretend play, and group collaboration in a secure setting.

Everyday independence: We guide children through daily routines like dressing, toileting, and mealtime with growing confidence.

Emotional balance: Turn challenging moments into learning opportunities — teaching skills like waiting, asking for help, and managing feelings.

School preparedness: Develop confidence with classroom structures and routines.

How We Partner with Parents and Caregivers

  • Personalized therapy plans: Each program is designed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to match your child's unique strengths, needs, and developmental goals.
  • Visible and Measurable Goals: We track growth and share simple, easy-to-read updates so progress can be celebrated together.
  • Family training and collaboration: Learn practical, at-home strategies that make therapy steps part of everyday life.
  • Integrated team care: Our BCBAs collaborate with speech and occupational therapists to align goals and maximize progress.
  • Flexible care options: Lakeview ABA sessions are available at our centre, in your home, or at your child's school. Plus, we offer support for managing insurance and scheduling.

FAQs About Lakeview ABA Therapy

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) examines how behavior functions, why it occurs, and how learning occurs. It is an effective and evidence-based therapy for toddlers and children with autism or other developmental and behavioral challenges. Registered behavior technicians and therapists use positive reinforcement and structured teaching to help children build useful, lasting skills in emotional regulation, daily living skills, communication, expression, and social interaction abilities.

Yes, ABA therapy can be helpful for toddlers and children who have not received an autism diagnosis. It is a suitable therapy practice for those with learning disabilities or behavioral issues. We encourage you to consult your pediatrician for a diagnosis if your child is showing signs and symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Clarity on your child’s health can support insurance queries and direct individualized treatment.

We treat and support toddlers, children, and young adults through tailored care depending on their developmental phase. At Chicago Pediatric Therapy & Wellness Center, we offer a whole-person growth plan with multidisciplinary offerings. You will find pediatric physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, teletherapy, ABA therapy/autism, and social work under one roof.

ABA therapy can benefit any child who needs extra help with communication, behavior, or daily skills. It is most often recommended for children with autism or related developmental differences. You might consider an ABA evaluation if your child:

  • Has trouble communicating wants, needs, or emotions
  • Shows frequent frustration, tantrums, or self-stimulatory behaviors
  • Struggles to follow directions or routines
  • Finds it difficult to make or keep friends
  • Needs support with daily living skills like toileting, eating, or dressing
  • Has been diagnosed (or is being evaluated) for autism or developmental delays

ABA therapy helps by teaching new skills step by step, using positive reinforcement and a personalized plan designed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Progress is data-driven, measurable, and focused on goals that matter most to your family.

Navigating insurance coverage can feel confusing, but we’re here to make it simple. Most families find that ABA therapy is at least partially covered under their plan — though exact benefits depend on your provider and policy type. Here is a quick overview of how coverage typically works in Illinois:

  • Illinois-regulated plans cover ASD diagnosis and treatment (including ABA) for toddlers, children, and teens under 21.
  • Illinois Medicaid covers ABA for families who qualify based on income or disability category.
  • Self-funded employer plans vary by employer; check your Summary Plan Description.

What’s Next? Share your insurance card with Chicago Pediatric Therapy & Wellness Center, and we will verify any ABA benefits, authorizations, and costs.

Each child is unique, and their therapy time depends on your family’s goals and needs. Most families spend 10–15 hours per week on focused support or 25–40 hours per week on a more intensive program. A BCBA will discuss a schedule with you after evaluation.

These factors are taken into account:

  • Developmental stage in communication, play, self-care, and learning
  • Safety or behavior concerns that limit or affect daily life
  • Targeted settings for integration and confidence (home, school, community)
  • Family’s schedule and capacity

After discussing recommended hours, we review progress every 6–8 weeks. Your child’s schedule can then be adjusted for effective and maintainable sessions.

Studies have shown that ABA therapy can enhance the social, emotional, communicative, and daily living skills of children with autism. Key contributors to success include:

  • Clear data-driven goals
  • Child-led pace, tailored to individual needs
  • Family involvement and applying skills beyond therapy
  • Regular sessions and therapy intensity without overwhelming the child
  • Age of the child upon treatment start (early intervention is best)

If progress stalls, you can discuss these adjustments with your therapist:

  • Adapting goals, frequency, or teaching strategies
  • Adding or partnering with speech or occupational therapists
  • Trying safe alternatives, such as naturalistic developmental behavioral interventions

Effectiveness is individualized. Always prioritize your child and their care. No therapy should cause distress or tension. A trial period with clear measures can show if ABA is the right fit for your child.
