Patrick McLean

Patrick McLean serves as Administrative Director and Co-CEO of Chicago Pediatric Therapy & Wellness Center, a comprehensive pediatric therapy practice he co-founded with his wife Rose in 2014. With over a decade of healthcare business leadership, Patrick has transformed their vision of coordinated, family-centered care into a thriving multidisciplinary clinic serving families throughout Chicago. After graduating from Western Illinois University in 2004 with a Bachelor's degree in Business and Finance, Patrick developed expertise in healthcare operations, strategic planning, and organizational growth. His business acumen combined with a deep commitment to serving children with developmental needs has positioned Chicago Pediatric Therapy & Wellness Center as a trusted resource for families navigating speech delays, sensory processing challenges, autism spectrum disorder, motor delays, and behavioral concerns. As Co-CEO, Patrick oversees essential operational pillars including marketing and community outreach, human resources and staff development, financial management and insurance coordination, and long-term business strategy. His leadership has enabled the clinic to expand from offering single therapy services to providing integrated physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, ABA therapy, and social work—all coordinated under one roof for maximum family convenience and clinical effectiveness. Patrick's management philosophy centers on creating systems that empower both staff and families. He has built a culture of collaboration where therapists from different disciplines communicate seamlessly about each child's progress, ensuring holistic treatment plans that address the whole child. His proudest moments come from witnessing families' journeys—from initial concerns through celebrated milestones and hard-won achievements. Beyond his professional role, Patrick brings personal perspective as a father of four children. He actively coaches his kids in various sports, enjoys creating barbecue masterpieces on his smoker, and values connection time with friends on the golf course. This balance between professional purpose and family life reinforces his understanding of the families Chicago Pediatric Therapy & Wellness Center serves every day.

With the cold weather taking over Chicago, and the ebb and flow of the pandemic, it’s important to know that Teletherapy is a useful and viable option for all families looking for help for their children from the comfort and safety of their homes.  But did you also know that all insurance plans (as of January 2022) are still covering Telehealth therapy services?  They are!

Prepping For A Telehealth Therapy session

A therapist from Chicago Pediatric Therapy & Wellness Center will send you a link to access a secure Zoom meeting, or work with you to set up a different platform depending on your preference. You can use your laptop, phone, tablet, or any other device that supports video. Telehealth therapy sessions are completed on the floor, typically where your baby likes to play. Have your baby’s favorite toys or books nearby to motivate them during the therapy session.

Addressing Your Individual Concerns And Goals

At the beginning of a video visit, your therapist will extensively discuss and address any concerns you have about your baby. You will be able to ask any questions and your therapist will ask you about goals for your baby, and together you will develop a plan of care individualized to assist your baby’s development.

Assessing Your Baby’s Movement

Your therapist will assess your baby’s movement during a telehealth visit. They may ask you to motivate your baby to move with toys or to position your baby in a certain way. You will likely need to be able to move your device during the visit to give your therapist different camera angles. You will be asked questions about the way your baby typically moves and may be asked to give a virtual tour of your baby’s place space.

Treating Your Baby

Telehealth therapy sessions are very hands on for parents, which is a very quick way to learn your home exercise recommendations! Your therapist will teach you exercises and handling techniques to help meet your baby’s needs. You will become an expert in treating your baby! Your therapist will ensure that you feel confident in all of the techniques you will need.

Developing A Home Program

You will work together with your therapist to develop a home program for the week that will meet your baby’s needs. The techniques you learn during your telehealth therapy session can be used throughout the week to help your baby make progress.

Following Up

Your therapist will provide their email and determine the best way to reach you. You may receive follow up emails about your home program. Open communication is the best way to ensure telehealth therapy success. Always feel free to reach out to your therapist at any time between sessions with questions, concerns, and successes!
